Bishop Roberson, 1840 watercolour on paper 14.7 x 11.8 cm Gift of Mr. James H. Flower, 1987. Collection of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Flower had many friends who were church officials and painted some of those
who passed through MacDonald’s Corner. In this watercolour, the gentleman
wears a black cutaway coat and vest with white cravat and round collar. His
lips are slightly parted in a smile which was unusual in portrait painting.
This work measures 14.7 x 11.8 cm and is smaller than the majority of
Flower’s works.
